The Silver Peak Unity EdgeConnect™ SD-WAN edge platform delivers an API-based, fully automated integration with Azure Virtual WAN that enables enterprises to rapidly deploy secure connectivity from SD-WAN branch locations to the Microsoft worldwide footprint of Azure cloud hub locations. Silver Peak Unity Orchestrator™ centralized management software uses Azure customer credentials to establish a secure, authenticated connection to the Azure Virtual WAN provisioning portal, guiding the user thru an intuitive workflow that establishes IPsec based branch-to-Azure connectivity to support a variety of targeted customer use cases. Orchestrator automatically establishes, monitors and maintains IPsec tunnels from each EdgeConnect branch location into the nearest Azure Hub, ensuring that application traffic traverses the shortest distance possible on the public internet before merging onto the Azure backbone.

EdgeConnect integration with Azure Virtual WAN incorporates automatic, ongoing resynchronization between Orchestrator and Azure to ensure that the SD-WAN is always aware of changes in Virtual WAN configurations, new or removed Azure Hub locations, and other changes in Azure Virtual WAN that impact branch connectivity. This joint solution enables IT administrators to build optimized network access to workloads and resources hosted in Azure VNETs, fully leveraging the performance advantages of the Microsoft global backbone network.
