  • Citrix XenDesktop is a popular way of virtualizing desktops. Across the wide area network (WAN), XenDesktop performance may become unpredictable. Screen refreshes may take too long and mouse movements may become erratic due to increased latency and jitter of the WAN – problems that are only exacerbated when other applications share the WAN connection. The WAN’s limited bandwidth is also a challenge when XenDesktop activities move large amounts of data, such as file transfers and print jobs.
  • Customer resource management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) benefit significantly from Silver Peak WAN optimization. Databases replicate faster offsite. Users login faster. Dashboards refresh faster. No matter the vendor - Siebel, Oracle, Microsoft, and other – Silver Peak can accelerate the centralized enterprise application out-of-the-box without any custom configuration or plugins. Specific customers who have used Silver Peak to improve their CRM and ERP architectures include:
  • This customer profile is about Perkins Coie LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington, who deployed a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) to accelerate branch office connectivity and address replication challenges between its Seattle and Chicago, Illinois data centers.  Perkins Coie had used another vendor's WAN optimization hardware, but it could not optimize all of the concurrent sessions (simultaneous sessions) established between the applications in the remote offices and the servers in the data center. Concurrent sessions are particularly a problem for cloud applications that use pipelining to improve application performance.  Perkins Coie chose Silver Peak in part because of its ability to optimize many concurrent sessions, but also because of its ease of use and performance. In head-to-head testing, Silver Peak software outperformed Riverbed hardware and deployed in a fraction of the time. With Silver Peak, Perkins Coie meets its recovery point objectives (RPOs) and attorneys in remote offices need less time to check documents out of the organization's enterprise document management system.
  • With employees in Australia, Europe, and the United States, Nevro Corporation was looking for a robust, flexible, accessible cloud solution that could scale with the business. It also needed a secure platform that could meet the stringent regulatory requirements for its implantable medical device and associated patient and study data. Nevro, a young company building its IT infrastructure from the ground up, selected the VMware vCloud® Air™ platform based on its compatibility with existing VMware solutions, and Silver Peak for its ability to accelerate data transfer to and from vCloud Air.
  • This customer story profiles Produce World, a major produce grower and supplier based in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe. Produce World relied on NetApp SnapMirror to protect its data, but found it impossible to meet its recovery point objectives (RPOs) and move data to its disaster recovery (DR) location hosted in a private cloud provider’s premises. Instead of meeting a 15 minute RPO for its Microsoft Dynamics NAV enterprise resources planning (ERP) software and two hours for other critical systems, Produce World found data replication to be taking 24 hours and more. With Silver Peak, Produce World not only increased data throughput and reduced bandwidth consumption, but also dramatically improved its ability to adapt to changes in the cloud.
