Milan, July 15th , 2014 - Bolzoni SPA, the largest European manufacturer of fork lift truck attachments, lifting tables and forks, has deployed Silver Peak’s wide area network (WAN) optimisation to help replicate data between the company’s two data centres. Supporting 150 local users and 700 users worldwide, Bolzoni SPA began struggling to meet RPOs and provide a consistent remote user experience. Since deploying Silver Peak, the company has seen an increase in data throughput and improved application response time.
As the company and data volumes continued to grow, Bolzoni SPA started to experience replication performance issues between its headquarters in Piacanza and its server farm in Milan. The company’s 2 megabit-per-second (Mbps) MPLS line was struggling to keep up with Bolzoni’s growing backup and replication workloads, and internet access. Bolzoni SPA was subsequently under growing pressure to build a scalable infrastructure that would cope with future replication demands, without having to continually upgrade bandwidth.
Bolzoni SPA turned to leading Italian distributor, BeSafe, who recommended maximising the existing WAN efficiency. After evaluating other key WAN optimisation providers, Bolzoni SPA selected Silver Peak because of its high performance, simple deployment and affordable pricing.
"As the amount of data we were dealing with continued to rise, we knew we needed to take proactive steps if we wanted to support future disaster recovery (DR) needs," said Stefano Terzoni, Head of IT Services at Bolzoni. “Silver Peak has enabled us to transfer more data in a shorter period of time, thus improving our RPOs.
