Silver Peak and Double-Take Software Team to Improve Data Protection across High Capacity WAN Links

Companies Enhance Business Continuity through Faster Asynchronous Replication, Network Backup and Recovery

Santa Clara , CA, and Southboro, MA February 6 , 2007 – Silver Peak Systems Inc. ( www.silver-peak.com ), a leading provider of scalable Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration solutions, and Double-Take® Software (NASDAQ: DBTK), a leading provider of data protection solutions, today announced a partnership to ensure secure real-time replication, backup and recovery in high capacity WAN environments. The two companies are pursuing joint sales, marketing and interoperability testing efforts to help enterprises improve business continuity and disaster recovery across geographically disperse locations.

Data protection products, such as Double-Take from Double-Take Software, can be adversely affected by inherent WAN limitations, including bandwidth, high latency and packet loss. To combat these restrictions, Silver Peak’s NX Series of WAN acceleration appliances uses disk based data reduction to eliminate over 90 percent of traffic traversing the WAN, as well as various TCP acceleration, loss mitigation, and Quality of Service (QoS) techniques to accelerate WAN performance. The combined Silver Peak and Double-Take Software solution delivers 10x-30x average improvements in replication and recovery times. This enables enterprises to better achieve their desired Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO), while maximizing investments in data protection, storage and networking infrastructure.

Silver Peak and Double-Take Software have been operating in several live enterprise networks, with capacities reaching 460 Mbps. Day-to-day storage tasks are performed in a secure manner using Silver Peak’s Secure Content Architecture, which ensures that business critical data being sent across the WAN is always protected with 128-bit AES encryption. Hardware acceleration ensures that data privacy does not come at the expense of performance.

“WAN acceleration has become a critical enabler for our business continuity plans,” said the IT Director at a global professional services firm. “We made several strategic IT investments in these areas that help us protect client data, recover more quickly from potential disasters and maximize the utilization of existing WAN resources. We are pleased to see leading vendors like Silver Peak and Double Take Software working together to ensure seamless interoperability between their products. This type of partnership always results in improved performance and increased reliability for the end user.”

“Working with Silver Peak allows joint customers to leverage their existing infrastructure for complete data protection over high capacity WAN links,” said Bob Roudebush, director of solutions engineering, Double-Take Software. “Double-Take Software provides the most efficient method of data replication available by sending only byte-level changes to protected files. By leveraging Silver Peak’s NX Series Platform with our replication technology, customers can realize even better replication performance and overcome latency and throughput restrictions without investing more budget dollars in additional bandwidth.”

.“The combined Silver Peak and Double-Take Software solution ensures maximum data accessibility with minimal exposure to risk,” said Chris Helfer, vice president of business development at Silver Peak. “Through our various partnership activities we are streamlining the deployment process while ensuring predictable behavior across all environments. Given the importance of business continuity and disaster recovery to the enterprise, partnerships like this play a strategic role in business operations.”

The companies will present an on-demand webinar describing the joint solution, benefits and real customer results in the coming months. For more information please send an email to doubletake@silver-peak.com
