SILVER PEAK EXPANDS EMC E-LAB QUALIFICATION FOR SRDF REPLICATION ENVIRONMENTS

NX Appliances are only WAN Optimization Solution Qualified for FCIP Deployment

Santa Clara, Calif., February 17, 2009 Silver Peak Systems , the leader in scalable Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration, today announced that Silver Peak’s NX appliances have received EMC® E-Lab™ qualification to support EMC’s Symmetrix® Remote Data Facility replication solutions over Brocade’s Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) solution.  The Silver Peak solution is currently the only WAN optimization appliance qualified by EMC to support SRDF®/A and SRDF/DM data replication in both Ethernet and FCIP environments, ensuring end-to-end interoperability across a wide range of enterprise networks

Silver Peak enables enterprises to save money by protecting more data without increasing WAN bandwidth. The highly regarded E-Lab testing program ensures that Silver Peak’s network optimization capabilities are interoperable in EMC SRDF environments.  This latest EMC qualification comes on the heels of similar testing performed by Brocade last year as part of the Brocade Data Center Ready Program (see below). Silver Peak’s NX appliances and Global Management System (GMS) have been available through the EMC Select Program since February, 2008.  The EMC Select program helps customers easily acquire all the required components of an information infrastructure solution – directly from EMC.

“Silver Peak was the only vendor that showed true partnership with EMC, with the ability to deliver private-line performance over our shared network,” said Brian Crandall, Global Systems Architect at Nuskin.  “This will allow us to save many thousands of dollars a year in WAN bandwidth costs alone.  Their continual support during our trial and follow up during our implementation has been stellar.  They have truly shown their value and are a trusted partner in our infrastructure.”

Brocade Data Center Ready
Last year, Silver Peak received “Brocade Data Center Ready” certification, a rigorous process that demonstrates interoperability with Brocade FCIP SAN solutions.  Silver Peak is the only WAN optimization solution to achieve this certification to date.  In addition, Silver Peak is a Select member within Brocade’s Developer program, which ensures ongoing product compatibility and effective go-to-market tools for selling a joint Silver Peak / Brocade solution

“As a member of the Brocade Developer program, Silver Peak has been able to work with Brocade’s product and engineering teams to help enterprises move more data while spending less money on bandwidth,” said Carl Hubbard, vice president of engineering at Silver Peak.  “We are fortunate to work with leading vendors like EMC and Brocade to deliver best-in-class solutions for cost effective data replication and disaster recovery.”
