Silver Peak Expands Partnerships with Leading Data Center Infrastructure Companies

New Customizable Management Dashboards Provide Real-Time Visibility into Application Performance

Santa Clara, Calif., September 20, 2010 Silver Peak Systems, the leader in data center class Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization , today announced that 3PAR and Xiotech have joined Silver Peak’s data center infrastructure partner program to promote interoperability with and the benefits of the company’ NX and VX WAN optimization appliances in data center environments.  These companies join a growing list of data center infrastructure companies like Dell, EMC, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), and NetApp, who have partnered with Silver Peak to protect more data across the WAN, extend backup distances, and minimize IT costs by converging storage, non storage, and real-time traffic onto a single shared network.

To make the management and monitoring of these environments easier for both network and storage administrators, Silver Peak also announced the availability of new customizable management dashboards for the company’s Global Management System (GMS).  These dashboards enable enterprises to easily monitor replication performance across the WAN, isolate network issues from storage issues, and accurately ensure compliance with Recovery Point and Time Objectives (RPO/RTO).

“As a leading global provider of utility storage built for public and private cloud computing, 3PAR’s easy-to-implement Remote Copy software allows organizations to simply and cost-effectively protect more data,” said Craig Nunes, Vice President of Marketing at 3PAR. “3PAR is pleased to be working with Silver Peak to promote the combination of 3PAR Utility Storage with Silver Peak’s leading WAN optimization appliances and its new management dashboards to deliver superior offsite data protection.”

“Silver Peak’s unique network approach to WAN optimization ensures that virtual desktop applications perform at their full potential across the WAN,” said Brian Reagan, chief marketing officer at Xiotech.  “We are very excited to align with Silver Peak as the partnership will enable enterprises to deploy VDI in a more scalable, high-performing and cost-effective manner, enabling storage users to realize even more value from our intelligent storage blades.”

Silver Peak Showcases Partner Dashboards at Storage Decisions New York
In addition to announcing new members to their data center infrastructure partner program, Silver Peak will be demonstrating new customizable dashboards for the following data center infrastructure partners at the Storage Decisions Show in New York (September 20-21, New York Hilton, Booth #19):

3PAR.  By combining 3PAR’s highly-virtualized storage platform and the efficient 3PAR Remote Copy solution with datacenter-class WAN optimization from Silver Peak, the two companies deliver a proven solution for data storage and offsite replication.

EMC Silver Peak, an EMC Select resale partner, complements EMC IP replication products across the WAN while lowering the total cost of ownership for data protection.  The company’s NX appliances are qualified on various EMC products, including EMC SRDF/A, SRDF/DM, Celerra Replicator, SAN Copy, Atmos, and RecoverPoint.

HDS Silver Peak is resold by Hitachi Data Systems and supports HDS storage systems and file/content replication offerings including Hitachi Universal Replicator (HUR), TrueCopy®, Hitachi NAS replication, and Hitachi Content Platform replication. With these solutions, enterprises can protect more data across longer distances and perform replication over cost effective shared WANs.

Dell Silver Peak complements Dell EqualLogic replication across the WAN by overcoming common bandwidth, latency, and loss challenges that can hamper replication throughput.  In addition, Silver Peak VX appliances are available via Dell’s virtual appliance portal.

NetApp Silver Peak, a NetApp technology alliance partner, is commonly deployed in conjunction with NetApp SnapMirror and SnapVault to enhance replication performance across the WAN and lower ongoing disaster recovery costs.

Dashboards for other applications, including products from all Silver Peak partners, can be created using Silver Peak’s customizable interface.

“Silver Peak is committed to delivering best in class solutions that facilitate the deployment and management of data replication and other strategic data center initiatives over the WAN,” said Larry Cormier, senior vice president of marketing at Silver Peak.  “As the WAN optimization vendor of choice for leading data center infrastructure companies, we are constantly striving to marry our partners’ products with our own for a more complete and integrated end-to-end solution.”
