Silver Peak to Provide Core Technology for EcoLogic Optimization-as-a-Service (OaaS) Offering

New Managed WAN Optimization Service Improves Application Performance while Reducing IT Costs for UK Enterprises

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Mar. 26, 2012 Silver Peak Systems , the leader in data center class wide area network (WAN) optimization, today announced that its Virtual Acceleration Open Architecture (VXOA) will serve as the core technology for EcoLogic Systems’ Optimization-as-a-Service (OaaS) offering.  EcoLogic Systems, a leading cloud-based managed service provider, is the first to deliver an OaaS service for United Kingdom (UK) enterprises of all sizes that allows them to quickly and more-flexibly optimize the network while lowering ongoing telecommunications and infrastructure costs.

EcoLogic Systems provides the OaaS platform as a managed service on a zero capital expenditure (capex) annual license model.  This is supported by a customer management portal that offers dynamic visibility into network and application performance.  The service helps organizations with remote branch offices overcome the latency and packet loss challenges that can severely restrict the performance of strategic applications such as cloud computing, virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI), unified communications, and disaster recovery.

“Having evaluated numerous WAN optimization solutions, Silver Peak’s unrivaled performance and unique capabilities for optimizing all IP-based applications makes it best-in-class,” said Peter Mayo, director of EcoLogic Systems.  “Silver Peak’s virtual architecture maps perfectly with our OaaS platform, offering delivery and deployment flexibility for optimizing remote branches to data centers at a much lower cost than its competitors—and all without the impracticalities and maintenance costs associated with bulky hardware.”

Silver Peak’s VXOA uses real-time network optimization techniques to maximize available WAN bandwidth while overcoming common distance and quality challenges that adversely impact application performance over a WAN.  Silver Peak offers the most-comprehensive portfolio of virtual WAN optimization solutions, and the highest-performance virtual WAN optimization appliance with 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) of WAN throughput.  In addition, Silver Peak’s unique ability to optimize all IP traffic enables customers to get the best return-on-investment (ROI) for WAN optimization.  Silver Peak’s real-time network optimization techniques include Network Acceleration to overcome WAN latency, Network Integrity to correct packet delivery loss issues and prioritize time sensitive traffic, and Network Memory to maximize WAN bandwidth utilization.

“Today’s diverse range of IT initiatives continues to drive the increasing need to support growing data center traffic with WAN optimization solutions,” said Mike Betz, vice president of Europe, Middle East and Africa for Silver Peak.  “We are thrilled to be partnering with EcoLogic Systems to provide end users with a seamless optimization service that improves the performance of business-critical applications while minimizing ongoing IT costs.”
