Silver Peak Systems Launches with Team of Networking Veterans

New Enterprise-Class Products Enable Re-Centralization of Branch Office Infrastructure Using Local Instance Networking

Mountain View, Calif. – Sept. 19, 2005 – Silver Peak Systems, a developer of enterprise-class network acceleration appliances, today announced the launch of the company including an executive team of seasoned industry veterans with extensive experience in enterprise networking, Wide Area Networking (WAN) and application acceleration technologies. Silver Peak introduces the first enterprise-class solution that enables organizations to re-centralize branch office server and storage infrastructure on a broad basis, reducing IT costs and enhancing enterprise-wide data security and compliance. Operating at the network layer to remain transparent to applications and transport protocols (such as TCP, UDP and RTP), Silver Peak’s Local Instance Networking (LIN) approach achieves secure, scalable application delivery.

“We offer an innovative solution that addresses critical customer needs, leapfrogging current application acceleration products by providing enterprise class scalability and security across all applications and protocols,” said Rick Tinsley, president and chief executive officer at Silver Peak Systems. “Silver Peak’s solution for Local Instance Networking enables organizations to move servers and storage from branch offices to the data center on a wide scale, reducing IT costs and complexity while significantly improving overall application performance. Current point products only address individual applications, or require infrastructure modifications that deliver results at the expense of scalability and ease of use.”

According to Gartner, Inc., the application acceleration market is expected to reach $1.5 billion this year, a 50 percent increase over 2004. Silver Peak’s product line has been in development since 2004 and is in production now. The company has secured $12.5 million in funding and initial investors include premier venture firms Benchmark Capital and Greylock Partners.
