The Common Criteria, or ISO 15408, is an internationally recognized set of guidelines that define a common framework for providing assurance that the process of specification, implementation and evaluation of a computer security product has been conducted in a strict and standard manner.  Common Criteria certified products carry an unbiased, third-party validation of their functional capabilities that is recognized by governments and IT professionals around the world.
