  • Data replication performance is severely degraded by the long distances, poor network quality, and limited bandwidth of the WAN. This performance brief provides details on the performance benefits of the Silver Peak and NetApp SnapMirror and SnapVault solution.

  • When Storage Area Network (SAN) replication stalls, some companies might just throw more bandwidth at the problem, but not Priva B.V. The Dutch manufacturer of building management and climate control systems makes a point of conserving natural resources – and WAN bandwidth, apparently. Instead of purchasing more bandwidth to replicate traffic between its Dutch locations, Priva improved NetApp® SnapMirror replication nearly six-fold with Silver Peak WAN acceleration. “Our partner, Storedata, recommended we try Silver Peak,” says Ed de Jong, IT network engineer at Priva, “We found we were able to move nearly ten-times the data over our existing Internet connection, without spending a single Euro more on bandwidth.”

  • NCCW is one of the largest application service providers in the Netherlands. The company builds, maintains and hosts applications that enable building societies to efficiently rent and manage a house. NCCW represents more than 10,000 managed properties, and more than half of all building societies within the Netherlands rely on NCCW for their core business process management (BPM), software-as-a-service (SAAS), infrastructure-as-a-service (IAAS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications.

  • The Entertainment Company is a leading provider of entertainment, information and communications products and services in the United States. When The Entertainment Company wanted to establish a disaster recovery site, it faced a challenge all too familiar to many enterprises: How to replicate large amounts of data across the country and still meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs)?

  • This customer profile is about Perkins Coie LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Seattle, Washington, who deployed a software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) to accelerate branch office connectivity and address replication challenges between its Seattle and Chicago, Illinois data centers.

Perkins Coie had used another vendor's WAN optimization hardware, but it could not optimize all of the concurrent sessions (simultaneous sessions) established between the applications in the remote offices and the servers in the data center. Concurrent sessions are particularly a problem for cloud applications that use pipelining to improve application performance.

Perkins Coie chose Silver Peak in part because of its ability to optimize many concurrent sessions, but also because of its ease of use and performance. In head-to-head testing, Silver Peak software outperformed Riverbed hardware and deployed in a fraction of the time. With Silver Peak, Perkins Coie meets its recovery point objectives (RPOs) and attorneys in remote offices need less time to check documents out of the organization's enterprise document management system.
